Literacy Artifacts:

Preserving Tools, Methods, and Technologies of the Long Nineteenth Century

As part of ENGL 7230: U.S. Composition History: The Long Nineteenth Century, our cohort curated an archival exhibit for the Bowling Green State University Jerome Library archives. This exhibit was created collaboratively and emphasizes the significance of archival materials housed at BGSU including more traditionally archived materials in Jerome Library as well as a fully furnished one-room schoolhouse that was transported to campus. In particular, our research group investigated the role of visual instruction in nineteenth century and twentieth century education.

Our contribution to the exhibit can be seen in the embedded site below or at Literacy Artifacts: Preserving Tools, Methods, and Teachers’ Technologies of the Long Nineteenth Century.
