Curriculum Vitae

After earning a BA in English-Creative Writing from The University of Findlay (2011), I returned to UF to obtain an MA in Rhetoric and Writing (2015). From Fall 2015-Spring 2018 I taught first-year writing (FYW) and intermediate writing at Bowling Green State University where I am a doctoral candidate in the Rhetoric and Writing program. I also served as a program assistant in the General Studies Writing department where I mentor teaching associates and as a College Credit Plus mentor for high school teachers teaching GSW courses at local schools in Northwest Ohio.

My research explores online writing instruction (OWI), feminist theory and pedagogy, and space and place. In my dissertation, I  surveyed and interviewed students at BGSU taking FYW courses online to better understand the population of students learning in online writing courses (OWCs) and how their experiences in those courses shape their perceptions of writing and the university. I aim to continue this research, expanding the scope to include not only online learning in higher education but also in K-12 settings. My master's thesis investigates the methods FYW instructors employ in LMS spaces versus face-to-face classrooms.
